Being Dyslexic

For Students

If you feel you may be dyslexic please contact the Student Disability Service

For Staff

If you feel that you are in need of some support or testing please speak to your line manager in the first instance who can then refer you to Occupational Health to find out what is available.

UCL Networked Assistive Software

At present on WTS (staff) and Desktop@UCL (students) you can access 'mind mapping' software called Inspiration which can enable a user to structure their essays/reports in a visual way. It is under the 'Software A-Z'.

TextHelp Read and Write is now available on the new student desktop. This is a text to speech package to help you proof and correct your work. It also has many other useful study support tools to help with the common issues faced by dyslexics. Staff ask obtain a copy for work PCs from the Disability IT Support Analyst.

Please see the Disability IT Support Analyst for training in these packages.
