File store issues: Monday 15 May 2017 - update

Update: 16:00 15 MAY 2017

Filestore and Desktop Services are currently operating normally. Work is still continuing on identifying a root cause which we believe is related to a software bug. Should the problems previously experienced reoccur we have a plan in place for bringing services back up as soon as possible. Please report any filestore or desktop login problems to the Service Desk.


Update: 11:30 5 MAY 2017

Filestore and Desktop services are currently operating normally. However work is still continuing to identify the root cause of the problems experienced on Tuesday (2 May 2017). We will continue to monitor services over the weekend and provide a further update on Monday. Please report any filestore or desktop login problems to the Service Desk.


Update 13:00 4 MAY 2017

We are continuing to investigate the major file store issues that occurred Tuesday 2nd May . Following some changes made yesterday morning (update below) we now have a stable operational service for file store and Desktop login. However, we have still not identified the root cause of the problems experienced. Further investigation with our suppliers is ongoing. We apologise for any loss of service and ask all users to report any filestore or desktop login problems to the Service Desk


Update  11:27 3 MAY 2017

We are continuing to investigate the major file store issues that occurred yesterday. Following some changes made this morning we now have a stable operational service for file store and Desktop login. However we have still not identified the root cause of the problems experienced. Further investigation with our suppliers is ongoing. We apologise for any loss of service and ask all users to report any filestore or desktop login problems to the Service Desk


Update 5:10pm 2 MAY 2017

We are still continuing to investigate the file store issues experienced today since this morning. Some remedial work is planned on Wednesday 3rd May from 8:00am - 8:30am to Unix file stores. During this period the Unix file store may become disconnected. Users are advised to mount the Unix drive again or re-login. Disruption is expected to personal web sites and any Unix applications.  The service should be considered at risk till 9.00am.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Update 11:30am 2 MAY 2017 

We are currently experiencing issues regarding file storage which is affecting access to  N:\ drives and S:\ drives.

This will affect the use of the Desktop@UCL service in addition to any applications reliant on the filestore.

This is being investigated at a high priority and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause
