Research Computing Platforms Working Group
Computational Resource Allocation Group (CRAG)

The UCL Research Computing Community comprises several bodies, outlined below. Follow the links above for more information about some of these.

Strategic governance for Research Computing at UCL is provided by the Research Information and IT Services Group (RIISG), chaired by the Vice Provost (Research). The scope of the RIISG covers all IT services aimed at serving the specific needs of the research community at UCL such as: High Performance Computing, research data services, research network services and research applications such as IRIS.

Reporting to the RIISG, the Research Computing Platforms Working Group exists to provide guidance regarding the strategic roadmap for (specifically) Research Computing Platform services, and make recommendations to the RIISG regarding an associated programme of projects. The Working Group also provides guidance regarding any strategic matters arising relating to the operation and/or delivery of Research Computing Platform services, and makes recommendations to the RIISG regarding any key changes to the operation or delivery of these services.

The Computational Resource Allocation Group (CRAG) formulates policy governing the allocation of Research Computing compute and associated resources.

The Research Computing Forum mailing list is open to all staff and students from across UCL and associated Bloomsbury institutions and is used to communicate information about upcoming events, major service developments etc. You can subscribe to the mailing list here. This list is moderated and managed to keep postings to a minimum.

Central Research Computing services are managed and provided by the Information Systems (IS) Department within UCL Information Services Division (ISD), with the Research Computing Group providing a focus for community communications and development (see Contacts and Help).
