UCL and Moorfields launch new retinal disease online CPD course

22 December 2016

Retinal disease…

The Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital have launched an exciting new online CPD course for eye care professionals.

‘Retinal Disease: Latest Methods in Diagnosis and Treatment for Clinical Practice’ was created by UCL and Moorfields experts for ophthalmologists, doctors and other professionals with an interest in eye care. The course is available through UCL Life Learning, who have funded its development entirely.

Taught by Professor Sue Lightman and Dr Oren Tomkins-Netzer, the 16-hour course focuses on clinical diagnosis of retinal disease; interpretation of current imaging techniques; and up-to-date clinical guidelines and studies.

This is the IoO’s first CPD course to have teaching take place entirely online. This means that learners can study at their own pace, making it easy to fit around work commitments. After completing the course, learners will receive a certificate of completion from UCL and Moorfields Eye Hospital. The course is CPD accredited by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Professor Alan Bird, Emeritus Professor at the IoO and consultant at Moorfields, said: ‘This course is an excellent opportunity for clinicians in retinal care to acquaint themselves with the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.’
