Inflammation and Immunity

There is growing appreciation that inflammatory processes play a key role not only in infection and classical autoimmune disorders, which themselves have a major impact on the eye, but also in degenerative conditions such as age-related macular degeneration. An in-depth understanding of immune rejection of transplants at the front and the back of the eye is critical to improve clinical results in transplantation. Our researchers have carried out many studies of ocular infection and allergy and basic mechanisms of inflammatory processes.
