RESEARCH - EYE DISEASES - INFECTIOUS AND IMMUNE EYE DISEASE
Corneal Transplant Infection Allergic Eye Disease
Infectious and Immune Disease
The eye is very vulnerable to infection making rapid diagnosis and treatment extremely important. We have been interested in using molecular diagnostic techniques and setting up standard therapeutic protocols for ocular infection. The eye is also susceptible to inappropriate activation of the immune system. We have a long-standing interest in immune dysregulation in allergic eye disease and great expertise in the clinical management of these challenging conditions. A key event in immune-mediated disease is the passage of immune cells from the circulation to the tissue. We have made significant advancements in the understanding of the molecular events underlying this process and continue to investigate this important area that is relevant not only to eye disease but to other conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
