Silencing a Disease Gene

Often a genetic mutation can lead to a malfunction of a gene, rather than loss of a gene, so a different strategy is required. An alternative approach to introducing a therapeutic gene is to switch off the faulty gene. Although gene silencing research is in its infancy, promising results have already been shown in models.
