There aren't many places around the Institute to which the computer network doesn't reach, and we can be fairly creative in trying to connect those places which don't have any immediate network cabling. In most cases however, it's simply a matter of activating an existing wall socket and making sure the equipment being connected is suitable for the network - i.e. it has a legitimate operating system and software - all of which are patched with appropriate security updates, and also that the antivirus software is up to date.
Unfortunately because of licensing restrictions, in order to use a computer to access University and Institute network services, you must either be a member of UCL staff, or have official Honorary status within the Institute of Neurology.
More details about obtaining Honorary status, including application forms are available here: http://www.ion.ucl.ac.uk/intranet/hon-vis.htm
If you need to get a computer or laptop connected, or are moving an existing computer - we can help. Send us an email with your request.
