Medline NLM definition for Stroke (Cerebrovascular accident): A sudden, nonconvulsive loss of neurologic function due to an ischemic or hemorrhagic intracranial vascular event. In general, cerebrovascular accidents are classified by anatomic location in the brain, vascular distribution, etiology, age of the affected individual, and hemorrhagic vs. nonhemorrhagic nature. The Association works to prevent stroke through research and health education, and provides direct help for stroke people and their families through its community and welfare services.

Different Strokes
Different Strokes is a registered charity providing a unique, free service to younger stroke survivors throughout the United Kingdom.

Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland
Gives information, advice and support to people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness. Funds research and supports community based stroke, cardiac and chest groups.

The Stroke Network (US site)
An online stroke support and information group designed to help everyone in the stroke family.
