Ankylosing Spondylitis

Medline NLM definition: The form of rheumatoid arthritis affecting the spine. It occurs predominantly in young males and produces pain and stiffness as a result of inflammation of the sacroiliac, intervertebral, and costovertebral joints. Etiology is unknown.

Support Groups

National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society
Provides social and medical support and education about the disease. Funds research and helps to educate medical professionals and the general public. Also aims to influence governing bodies and the NHS in order that better facilities for treatment should be provided. 

Brain and Spine Foundation
