Current Awareness

What does the service offer & who may use it?

  • Topic searches - we will provide you with a monthly update covering new literature published in your subject area, setting up a search profile, using keywords and limits you supply and covering one or more of the following databases: Web of Science, Medline, Embase, PsycInfo, CINAHL. Once established, the search profile is run at monthly intervals and a list of results sent to you by email.
  • Table-of-contents alerts - we can arrange for you to receive the table of contents of the latest issues of your favourite journal titles via email.
  • These services are available to all Institute and Hospital Staff/ research students and can be set up for individuals or for departments/research groups. Please contact the Library for more information.
  • Note: search results are NOT critically appraised by library staff & this should be carried out by the user(s). However, we aim to work with you to revise the search strategy if a search is producing unsatisfactory results or if your needs change over time.
  • You can also set up search profiles and email alerts for yourself - go to our DIY current awareness page for more information & advice about doing this.
