Library Stock

The Queen Square Library contains a wide range of neurological books and journals, together with some general medical and biomedical literature. Our latest Collection Development Policy (2014) can be viewed here.

The collection covers neurology, neurosurgery, the neurosciences and allied fields, comprises over 14,900 bound journals, 90 current print journal subscriptions, 10,000 books and monographs. Additionally, the library possesses a unique historical collection of 3,000 volumes that can be found in the especially purpose-built "Louise Shepherd Room" - named after Louise Shepherd, librarian at Queen Square from 1993 to 2012.

Registered users also have access to the extensive collections of UCL Library Services, which include almost 2 million items, over 35,000 electronic and printed journals, other e-resources, digital collections and special collections.

Books & Book Series

The library at Queen Square has a collection of over 10,000 books. A detailed list of book locations in the Queen Square Library is available. Journals - printed & online

Print journals

The Library holds more than 14,000 bound volumes and currently subscribes to about 80 printed journals. Complete collections of major neurology and neuroscience titles, plus unique holdings of some of the less common titles are also available. Also see:

Non current journals may be borrowed by Queen Square/Institute staff, but must be returned within the hour. Many journals are held on the first floor and shelved alphabetically by title. Some older volumes are kept in the Neurology Store (library staff collect requests twice daily). Please also check the electronic journals web pages.

Electronic Journals

Access to online journals is also available to registered users of the Library via several routes. Details are given on our ejournals web pages. Please note that there are password and network restrictions placed on many titles.

Historical Collection

A unique collection of specialist historical books and papers. Details are in the library catalogue. Items from this collection are available for reference only.

Multimedia

We have a small collection of videos and CD's. Video viewing facilities are available in the Library.
