Professional Activities

Trainees (Specialist registrars in Neuropathology) attend:

  • Training day in Neuropathology (Royal free Hospital, Organiser Dr. M Galloway).
  • Pathology/ Neuropathology Seminars (Royal college of Pathologists).
  • Courses organised by the BNS (e.g. BNS summer school, BNS annual meeting).
  • Secondments to other centres.
  • Access to lectures at UCL, including MSc course in Neurosciences.

Trainees (Specialist registrars in Neuropathology) contribute:

  • Teaching of Medical Students.
  • Teaching at MSc course.
  • Giving presentations on Clinical conferences.
  • Present cases on MDT.
  • Carry out audits in the department.
  • Publish case reports and studies.

Supervisors / Trainers attend:

  • Attend courses organised by the Deanery.
  • Maintain Supervisor portfolio.
  • Attend appraisal courses and management courses.
  • Maintain CPD portfolio.
  • Convene to weekly microscopy session in the Division, with discussion of diagnostically difficult cases and review of surgical pathology cases from previous week.

Supervisors / Trainers teach, contribute and organise on a regular basis:

  • Give lectures at MSc and BSc Courses.
  • Give lectures and seminars to Medical students.
  • Organisation of the BNS Summer school.
  • RCPath Training days.
  • Supervision of Students.
  • Supervision and teaching of visiting SpR’s.

Supervisors’ / Trainers’ professional activities:

  • Publication of journal article, book chapters and review articles.
  • Apply for funding at charitable organisations, Research Councils and Department of Health.
  • Contribute to Curricula and educational committees.
  • Participate the EQA Scheme.

Organisation of and contribution to workshops, meetings and conferences:

  • BNS Summer School.
  • Brain Net Europe.
  • World muscle Society training course.
  • Euro-CNS.
