Reta Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies

The Reta Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies was founded in 1977 through a generous bequest from the Reta Lila Weston Trust for Medical Research, with the aim of furthering knowledge about stroke and neurodegenerative disorders.

There is an active programme of research into stroke and movement disorders, with particular emphasis on parkinsonian disorders, including idiopathic Parkinson's disease and progressive supranuclear palsy (Steele Richardson Olszewski Syndrome).

We are linked with the Institute of Neurology, the Queen Square Brain Bank, the Sara Koe PSP Research Centre and the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and carry out collaborative and interdisciplinary research combining clinico-pathological, genetic and cell biological approaches.

The UCL Institute of Neurology promotes teaching and research of the highest quality in neurology and the neurosciences. The Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery are members of  UCL Partners, Europe's largest academic health science partnership.
