It is an exciting time to be involved in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), over the last decade there have been a plethora of new treatments and approaches: both disease modifying and symptomatic. Central is the treatment of the early relapsing-remitting phase, with new oral (eg fingolimod) and monoclonal antibody approaches (eg natalizumab, alemtuzumab). Two cases will be presented, illustrating aspects of diagnosis and therapeutics – both benefit and risk.
