Dr Anna Remington appointed Director of CRAE

We are delighted to report that Dr Anna Remington will be the new Director of the Centre for Research in Autism Education (CRAE), following the departure of Professor Liz Pellicano at the end of October.

CRAE is a partnership between the UCL Institute of Education (IOE) and Ambitious about Autism, the national charity for children and young people with autism. Its mission is to help enhance the lives of autistic people and their families through conducting ground-breaking scientific research.

Speaking of Dr Remington's appointment, Professor Robert Savage, Head of Department for Psychology and Human Development, said:

"I am delighted that somebody of Dr Remington's calibre is taking the helm at CRAE. Anna has both the intellectual vision, energy, and experience to maintain and indeed to extend, the impressive work of this centre of excellence in pure and applied research with and for the autism community. I look forward to working with the team as they step forward to new successes."

Professor Peter Blatchford, Professor of Psychology and Education, added:

"Dr Remington has played a leading role in the development of CRAE and was acting Head when Professor Pellicano was on maternity leave. I know she will do a great job and I know you will join me in wishing her every success in this role."

Professor Pellicano is leaving CRAE to take up a post at Macquarie University in Sydney. Commenting on her departure, Professor Becky Francis, Director of the IOE said:

"The team of IOE colleagues working in CRAE have together built an energetic and highly esteemed research centre. As Director of CRAE, Professor Pellicano has been pivotal to that achievement. As well as her leading-edge research in the field of autism, she has demonstrated particular skill in engaging with partners and the wider public, to raise awareness of autism and its features.

"I would like to thank Professor Pellicano for the outstanding leadership that she has provided for CRAE and her wider contribution to the IOE's work, and to wish her the very best for her next move."
