6 June 2017
Five Subject Specialist Research Group (SSRG) members from the UCL Institute of Education (IOE) recently presented a symposium at the Nordic Conference on School Subjects in Odense, Denmark.
The members, Dr Clare Brooks, Dr Arthur Chapman, Dr Jennie Golding, Dr Nicky Platt and Dr Mary Richardson, presented a symposium around the challenge of understanding subject knowledge in England.
The symposium comprised five papers examining: Teacher Education, History Education, Mathematic Education, Assessment and Textbook Development. The conference papers are now being written up for submission as a journal special edition. For more information about this research group, please refer to the SSRG website.
Speaking about the event, Dr Mary Richardson said:
"Subject didactics is the foundation of most education systems in the Nordic countries, so the symposium was well attended by teachers and academics keen to find out about the English education system and our thoughts on subject didactics."
