The pilot study involves six primary schools in the London
area over the 2016/17 academic year. The evaluation is due to be
completed by September 2017.
Purpose
To develop proof of concept for
a larger funded study in 2017/18. RiPR involves collaboration between
school leaders in workshops and school-to-school visits. Staff from six
schools work together over one academic year in three workshops and in
two clusters of three for the review visits.
Approach
Based around the principles of effective
peer review and joint practice development and is enhanced by engagement
with research literature and facilitation by UCL experts.
Unlike other
forms of peer review, RiPR is not a 'mocksted' (practice for an external
inspection) but involves joint practice development around a specific
pedagogical issue.
Pilot
In the pilot, schools have engaged in research on effective
feedback to enhance learning. The approach builds on work undertaken by
the researcher at the London Centre for Leadership in Learning (LCLL)
on research learning communities (RLCs), research-engaged schools, peer
review and lesson study.
The process is underpinned by evidence from theory based
evaluation, knowledge mobilization and innovation implementation.
