Training to become a GROW@KS2 Literacy teacher

Grow@KS2 teacher training The Initial Professional Development (IPD) course covers a broad range of literacy learning and literacy difficulties to enable you to observe, assess and address children's complex needs. You will reflect on your teaching decisions and the impact on children's learning. The course is 10 half day sessions, which include live lesson observation, and runs termly. It is accredited by the UCL Institute of Education and delivered at regional venues.
The IPD course will enable you to:

  • develop an understanding of Key Stage 2 children's learning and literacy acquisition
  • learn skills to assess and overcome children's literacy learning barriers
  • become reflective of teaching decisions and their impact on children's learning in reading and writing
  • learn how to develop and use a gradient of challenge in text reading
  • support progress in reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • reflect on your teaching decisions and the impact on children's learning
  • continue your professional learning.

Course fee
The IPD course fee is £1,165 (VAT free) per person or £2,145 for two people.

Once accredited

We recognise adult learning as on-going and will offer additional modules in specialist subject areas for GROW@KS2 Literacy teachers following their Initial Professional Development course. You may attend as many of these courses as you wish. To maintain accreditation, you will need to attend at least one module (usually a two-day training course, and/or online learning) per year.
