Professor Aimee Spector, Director, University College London, UK.

Aimee originally developed CST as her PhD thesis from 1999-2001. Since then, she has established the International CST Centre and developed the CST training course, having trained over 2000 people in CST. She is author on numerous academic publications on CST and on the four CST training manuals. Aimee has continued to supervise academic research on CST and other psychosocial interventions for dementia, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She works as a Professor of Old Age Clinical Psychology in the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology, UCL.

Professor Martin Orrell, University of Nottingham, UK.

Martin Orrell is Professor of Ageing & Mental Health and Director of the Institute of Mental Health, a partnership between the University of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He is Editor of the journal Aging & Mental Health, Chair of the UK Memory Services National Accreditation Programme, President of the European Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, and a Board member of the European INTERDEM Network. His main research focus has been developing and evaluating psychosocial interventions to improve dementia care. He has supervised 6 PhDs on CST for dementia, been awarded 7 major dementia care research grants totalling £17 million and published over 300 academic papers.

Professor Bob Woods, University of Bangor, UK.

Bob Woods is Professor Emeritus of Clinical Psychology of Older People at Bangor University’s Dementia Services Development Centre and has been a practitioner and researcher in the dementia care field in the UK for over 40 years. He trained and worked initially as a clinical psychologist in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, subsequently combining extensive clinical work with older people with academic appointments at the Institute of Psychiatry, London and University College London. His research has involved the systematic development of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for people with dementia and their care-givers, including cognitive stimulation, reminiscence and life review and cognitive rehabilitation. His publications include practical manuals for family carers and care-workers as well as text-books and over 200 peer reviewed journal papers.

Dr Elisa Aguirre, University College London, UK.

Elisa Aguirre image
Elisa is a Health Psychologist working as a clinical dementia researcher at North East London Foundation Trust. She completed her PhD in 2012 at UCL, which involved developing and evaluating the maintenance CST programme. She is the first author of the ‘International CST guidelines’.

Emily Fisher, University College London, UK.

Emily Fisher image
Emily is the Programme Manager for CST International research programme which aims to implement CST into routine care for people with dementia in Brazil, India and Tanzania. She also co-ordinates the International CST Centre. She completed her MSc in Dementia at UCL in 2019.
