Caught in Flux: Housing and Communities in Transition
Hosted under the umbrella of the Urban Film Society (UFS),
founded in 2004 by Mark Tewdwr-Jones (UCL Bartlett School of Planning)
and currently run by Sonia Arbaci, Elena Bessusi, Jessica Ferm and Nikos
Karadimitriou, this is a screening series intended to introduce
participants to a diverse range of film making and viewing across the
globe.
This year's UFS season is curated in collaboration with
Ben Campkin (UCL Urban Laboratory / UCL Bartlett School of Architecture)
under the title "Caught in Flux: Housing and Communities in
Transition". Expanding the spectrum of films, documentaries and
film-based lectures, it has a particular emphasis on housing and
communities, diverse neighborhoods, cities and migration. The screenings
provide a space for young filmmakers to present their works, while
fostering interdisciplinary and cross-cultural exchange.
Most
screenings will be personally introduced by the director(s), who will
also discuss the films and the issues they raise with the audience.
Entrance to the screenings is free; all welcome.
Venue: all events are held in the Christopher Ingold Ramsay Lecture Theatre, 20 Gordon Street, WC1H 0AJ.
For further information, see the UFS website, download the programme, or register to the UFS mailing list at http://www.mailinglists.ucl.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/bartlett-ufs.
