The International Women’s Health Initiative (IWHI) within the UCL Institute for Women’s Health works with partners overseas, in particular in Less Economically Developed countries. The membership of the group is multidisciplinary and represents clinical and academic interests as well as the social sciences and allied disciplines. Links are being developed with several overseas countries; the most prominent of these are currently in Uganda and Nigeria. In Uganda, the IWHI has collaborated with counterparts to form the Ugandan Women’s Health Initiative (UWHI). So far, the UWHI has initiated ten projects in Kampala and Jinja; some have already been completed, others are fully operational and some are in the development phase. The IWHI is always open to forming new links with other countries with a view to collaborating on initiatives that will make a real and sustainable difference to women’s health.
