Course overview
To introduce students to an extended range of techniques for the intellectual organization of knowledge; to examine criteria for the cataloguing and indexing of special forms of material, including digital materials; to promote understanding of the structure of different forms of subject indexing languages, such as classification schemes, thesauri and subject headings; to impart skills in the cataloguing of diverse materials and in the design and construction of indexing tools.

Assessment: Assessment by coursework only.
