
Biography
Liz Chapman is a Modern Languages graduate from Durham University who trained as a Librarian at Polytechnic of North London. Her career has been in academic libraries ranging from Further Education where she also trained to teach adults, to a new technological university, through to Oxford University where she took a year out of libraries to be Junior Proctor. Her published work is generally in the areas of collection management and development. A Fellow of CILIP, she has been a member of the Library Association (now CILIP) Council, the Statistics Committee of IFLA and is currently a member of the SCONUL Executive Board.
She has been a member of various professional editorial boards and an advisor to publishers and library suppliers. She is a member of the Advisory Board of a major serials supplier and a founder member of the Fiesole Retreat which brings together publishers, librarians and suppliers for an annual open dialogue. At UCL as well as her role as Deputy Director of Library Services, she manages the Academic Support Group which includes UCL’s multi-site service and its teams of Subject Librarians. She chairs the Student Support Group working on widening participation, directed services for international students, internal and external e-newsletters and the calendar of exhibitions of library Special Collections.
