Expertise: Nutrition and HIV, Management of Severe Malnutrition
Biography: Andrew trained in nutrition at the London School of Health and Tropical Medicine
and worked with the MRC in Nigeria and the Gambia. He developed a
research team in Nutrition/Infection interactions with collaborations in
Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa, Kenya and Bangladesh. He is also
researching on the impact of different support mechanisms for orphaned
children. He retired as head of CIHD (formerly CICH) in September 2006 but continues
research in the focused area of nutrition. He is a trustee of UNICEF UK
and Tearfund and now supports the development of their policies and
programmes. He has chaired various committees in the UN including the
SCN Working Group on Nutrition and HIV.
