Biography:
Shivani is a doctoral candidate who completed her Bachelor of Arts and
Master of Arts degrees from the University of Waterloo, Canada in the
field of political science. While working in Mumbai on a CIDA funded
research term with the Tata Institute of Social Science she became
interested in issues relating to health, urban development, and
politics. In September of 2010 she enrolled as a full time PhD student
with CIHD, with her research focusing on urban migration patterns of
urban slum residents in Mumbai and the effect it has on health and other
indicators. Working in collaboration with Mumbai based NGO SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education & Health Action) she will begin data collection in September 2011.
