Expertise: Peace,
freedom and rights; community mobilisation for improved health and wellbeing of
children and young people, mothers and communities in difficult circumstances;
research with participants; and integrated process evaluation of
interventions.
Biography: Mikey has a Masters
in Archaeology and Anthropology, specialising in Biological Anthropology, and a
Masters in Educational Psychology. In the past he has worked for the Department
of Psychology and Special Needs, the Social Science Research Unit at the
Institute of Education and for Save the Children UK on projects predominantly
with children and young people exploring such issues as play and relationships,
teenage pregnancy, children’s rights and refugees. He has also worked on issues
relating to race and ethnicity. Mikey lives in Malawi working on MaiMwana
Project, a maternal and neonatal survival project, as a Technical Advisor. He also
teaches a qualitative research methods module at the Institute and is working
on a doctorate in International Child Health exploring the psycho-social
mechanisms through which women’s groups reduce mortality.
