Biography: Mary started her career in the academia as a technical researcher in the field of fisheries and food engineering. Originally from the Philippines, she moved to Thailand in 2003 to pursue her MSc and then worked as  unit coordinator and project manager of Asia-wide projects funded by the Swedish International Development Agency, Asian Development Bank and the Canadian International Development Research Centre. Mary was based in Bangkok until 2010 and then relocated to the UK and worked as project administrator at Brunel University for two years prior to joining UCL in March 2012.

As a Research Coordinator at the Institute for Global Health, Mary is responsible for  large research grants including funding from the Big Lottery Fund, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Department for International Development, the European Commission, and the Wellcome Trust. Mary manages all research administration activities during the research project cycle from pre-award through to post-award stage with regard to administrative responsibilities to donors, UCL, collaborative partners and local and overseas field research staff.

Outside work, Mary is a keen fundraiser, a ‘social’ cyclist, enjoys designing and making jewellery and a bikram yoga enthusiast.
