In Memoriam

Margaret Dawson, who died suddenly on 10th January, started work at the Institute of Child Health in the early 1980s.  She first worked with Professor David Morley in the Tropical Child Health Unit, and then continued in the Centre for International Child Health under Professsor Andrew Tomkins.  Previously she had worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  Her main role in CICH was as Resource Centre Manager, a role at which she excelled.  Margaret was a natural communicator, enjoying interacting with all the students attending the MSc courses and the many visitors which the Resource Centre attracted.  For students studying on courses overseas she would arrange tailor made tours.  Feedback was always excellent.  She made visitors feel so welcome and the efforts she made to keep international issues at the top of the Institute of Child Health's library's activities have resulted in the international section still being very prominent.

Margaret retired from CICH in 2001 but continued her interest in international health afffairs.  She worked tirelessly for the church and many other community groups in Twickenham.  She leaves her husband, Derek, children Susan and Andrew, and three grand children.
