A study looking at the effects of being HIV positive and being on antiretroviral medication may have on sleeping and sleep pattern
Project Summary
Very little is known about the effect of HIV infection or antiretroviral medication on sleep and sleep patterns. The aims of this study are to see if sleep is affected by being HIV-positive, and if any changes in sleep are associated with other functions in the body such as brain function.
The research involves cognitive tests, a study questionnaire, a brief medical history regarding sleep. Participants will use an Actigraph to record physical activity and sleep/wake patterns and keep a sleep diary for a week. A pulse oximeter which record the levels of oxygen in the blood will be used on one night. The data will be combined with other data collected for each participant as part of the POPPY cohort study.
