Programme Information

This programme is designed for health professionals, policy makers, managers, and researchers who are already working in international child health or wish to develop a career in this area. The programme will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and approaches to develop and deliver effective programmes in developing countries and resource-poor conditions. It will engage you in new ways of thinking to improve services for children and to critically analyse existing theory, policy and practice in global child health. You will be provided with essential training in research and management approaches in this field and the programme will promote personal reflection and growth among those of you who are already working in this arena.

Our graduates include students from over 70 countries worldwide who come from a variety of professional backgrounds including paediatrics, nursing, midwifery, community health, health management, policy and the NGO sector. This gives students the opportunity to learn from each others’ skills, experiences and perspectives.

Our programme will help you

  • identify and analyse the principles underlying policy and planning in the field of international child health
  • develop professional and academic skills in research and management
  • plan and evaluate child and maternal health programmes and policy
  • understand how to apply evidence based approaches to policy and practice
