Congenital syphilis screening 'cuts baby deaths'

A new study on 41,000 women, carried out by UCL researcher Sarah Hawkes, and published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases, has shown that hundreds of thousands of babies' lives could be saved each year if pregnant women were screened for syphilis.  Read the BBC's report.
