Market Speculation and Malnutrition?

In a Lancet commentary, published at the end of last week, CIHD academics made the case that speculation in the food commodity derivatives market is one of the factors that has been responsible for the current crisis in world food prices.

Calling for better regulation of these markets, they make the link between rapid price rises, reduced food security for the world's poorest, and an increased risk of death and morbidity from childhood malnutrition.
