6 April 2011

In an award ceremony held at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 6th April, Anthony Costello was awarded the James Spence Medal.  This medal commemorates Sir James Spence (1892-1954) who was Professor of Child Health at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and one of the principals who founded and developed the British Paediatric Association. The award is made from time to time for outstanding contributions to the advancement or clarification of paediatric knowledge and is made on the recommendation of the Council of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health after it has been advised by the Executive Committee.
