Dissemination workshop in Delhi

19 January 2010

The team participated in a large workshop held in Delhi on the 9th December, 2009 to disseminate the findings of the Ekjut trial. This trial evaluated the impact of working with women's groups on maternal and newborn health among rural tribal communities of Jharkhand and Orissa (Eastern India). The workshop, sponsored by the Big Lottery Fund (http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/), was led by Ekjut, an NGO working in the field of community mobilisation (http://www.ekjut.org.in) and a longstanding CIHD partner, together with the Population Foundation of India (http://www.popfound.org/) and Women & Children First (http://www.wcf-uk.org/). It brought together representatives from NGOs, research institutions and aid organisations, and was attended by a leading member of India's Planning Commission. Findings from the trial will soon be published in a high profile medical journal.
