IEHC Director Professor Andrew Hayward welcomes all new students

I am very pleased to welcome our new students to the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care. The overriding mission of our Institute is to improve population health across the life-course and reduce health inequalities. We do this through highly interdisciplinary research into the determinants of health, how these can be addressed, and how our health care and other services can prevent and treat disease. We also achieve this mission through our teaching, which aims to give our students the knowledge and skills to make a real difference in the world. I wish you all the best in your studies whether this is your first degree, you are returning to education to further your career or you are embarking on a PhD. Enjoy your time at UCL, enjoy London, ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to tell us how we can continue to improve the student experience.
