British Paediatric Surveillance Unit
Many of our surveillance studies of infections and congenital disorders rely on information that is gathered through the 3,000 paediatricians who participate in the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit (BPSU) reporting scheme. The BPSU co-ordinates the collection of UK-wide data on rare childhood conditions and uncommon infections.
The BPSU is a joint initiative between our Programme, the Royal College of Paediatricians and Child Health (RCPCH) and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and includes a partnership with Health Protection Scotland. The Institute is represented by Professor Carol Dezateux who is a member of the BPSU executive committee
