These charts are used by GPs, paediatricians and parents across the UK to assess the growth of infants and children and are included in the Personal Child Health Record (the 'red book') given to every child born in the UK.
Understanding measurements of growth and development
in children is complex, not least because children develop at different
rates. Translating measurements such as height and weight into tools
that can be used to alert healthcare professionals to growth problems,
statistical methods to account for different rates of development.
