Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Unit
Infections continue to be a major cause of childhood morbidity and mortality world-wide. The research carried out in the Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Unit is directed towards understanding the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and control of childhood and maternal infections.
We aim to provide an academic and
clinical
environment for
research and to promote
training in maternal and childhood infectious diseases and microbiology.
The Unit has a close association with the
Department of Clinical
Infectious Diseases,
Department of Clinical
Microbiology and
Department of Clinical
Immunology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
and with the
Division of Infection
and Immunity at University College London.
The
Infectious
Diseases and Microbiology Unit in the Institute of Child Health is based at the
Hugh
and Catherine Stevenson Centre for Childhood Infectious Diseases and
Immunology.
