£5m government investment in new childhood Obesity Policy Research Unit

The UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health is pleased to announce a £5 million investment from the Department of Health in a new National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Policy Unit to develop a deeper understanding on the causes of childhood obesity.
The new unit will look at the causes of childhood obesity and support delivery of the governments childhood obesity plan.
Professor Russell Viner, Policy Research Unit Director and Professor of Adolescent Health who will lead the Unit said:
"We are delighted that the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health will host the new obesity policy research unit (OPRU). Preventing obesity in early life is key to turning the tide on this modern epidemic."
