ICH launches the new academic strategy

Welcome to the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH) which, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), forms the largest concentration of children’s health research in Europe. The inspirational mission of the joint institution is to:

Improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement

Over the last 18 months, my colleagues and I have been working very hard to develop a new academic strategy which builds on the Institute’s excellence and success in delivering this important mission and the contribution which it makes to the health of children throughout the world.

The strategy is embedded in four underpinning principles which are:

  • Interdisciplinarity
  • Accelerating translation
  • Developing academic leaders
  • National and international partnership and leadership

It comprises five academic programmes and one cross-cutting theme, which are:

  • Developmental Biology & Cancer Programme
  • Developmental Neurosciences Programme
  • Genetics and Genomic Medicine Programme
  • Infection, Immunity, Inflammation and Physiological Medicine Programme
  • Population, Policy and Practice Programme
  • Cross-cutting Theme on Rare Diseases

We had an event on 11th March 2014 to launch ICH’s academic strategy 2014-2019 (video).

I hope you will enjoy browsing these pages and learning more about the work of UCL’s Institute of Child Health.
