The Michelle Zalkin Scholarship
- This Scholarship was established in memory of Dr Michelle Zalkin to promote excellence in safeguarding and child protection.
- It offers exceptional students with a proven interest in child protection the chance to undertake the UCL Masters in Paediatrics and Child Health.
- Michelle gained a distinction on the MSc course, then worked in Community Paediatrics specialising in child protection.
- The scholarship was established by Michelle’s family and friends to encourage the next generation to continue and build upon her work.
The Michelle Zalkin Scholarship is an individual award of £10,000 for a maximum of one student per academic year.
The award amount will be deducted from the cost of fees and any additional monies given to the successful student as a cheque payment at the start of the programme.
The award is for applicants who have an unconditional or conditional offer to study the UCL MSc in Paediatrics and Child Health programme for entry in September 2017 full time or modular/flexible.
- Selection Criteria
Students will be assessed on the basis of the scholarship application form and in particular on their personal statement, as well as their original application for the course.
The selected student will be academically strong and have a focus on child protection in their daily work.
An interview will be conducted to assess commitment to child protection.
Any applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
The successful applicant will be contacted by 1 September 2017.
