Crucible being removed from bowl furnace in experimental reconstruction

The Institute for Archaeo-Metallurgical Studies carries out its own systematic, comprehensive archaeo-metallurgical research projects but also provides archaeo-metallurgical expertise as active partner in archaeological field research and laboratory investigations undertaken by academic institutions in many parts of the world. Since one of the major goals of the Institute is the dissemination of archaeo-metallurgical knowledge, the results of this research, field work and laboratory investigations are continuously being published in numerous scientific papers and books.

In addition, the Institute publishes its own yearly IAMS Newsletter, which contains articles and up to date information on the activities of scientists connected with IAMS. Many important archaeo-metallurgical discoveries and the results of postgraduate research projects are first published in "iams". The journal has been peer reviewed since 2002 and is now available for free online.
