The UCL Online Recruitment project aims to use innovative, best practice
recruitment tools to support the Provost’s vision of UCL becoming a modern
outward-looking world-class university. Its implementation will support one
of UCL's corporate objectives to attract high calibre, diverse candidates drawn
from around the world. In addition, it will streamline business processes to
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the recruitment function and provide
statistical reporting tools that will enhance workforce decision making and
equal opportunities monitoring.
Many of the Higher Education institutes across the UK, and internationally, with whom UCL compete, are either already online or are currently in the process of reviewing their recruitment systems with a view to implementing an online recruitment solution.
Following the delivery of ResourceLink, under the HR & Payroll Programme, the next project thread of the HR programme was online recruitment. A review of the options for UCL was commissioned and this led to the decision to embark on an EU competitive tendering process to select a supplier to provide an online recruitment application.
The successful supplier is WCN (www.wcn.co.uk) and have a track record of delivering online recruitment systems for Central and Local Government, Private sector and the HEI sector, with clients such as Birmingham University and the London School of Economics.
The project is in the testing phase with an expected go live date for the first tranche of departments at the end of April 2009. The roll out plans are that all of UCL will be using the system by the end of July 2009. An intensive programme of training has been planned to support this objective.
