Servicing Meetings and Committees (Introduction)

Participants:
All staff who are new to servicing meetings and committees.
(Maximum of 12 places)

Pre-requisites:
None

Overview:
This course is intended for participants to:

• understand the purpose of meetings and what makes them effective
• state the role and functions of the minute taker and the chair person, and demonstrate minute taking skills
• develop listening to select and precise information using reported speech

Anticipated learning outcomes:
By the end of this session, you will have explored:

• styles of writing
• purposes of meetings
• effective meetings
• roles of the note-taker
• types of minutes
• barriers to listening
• role and skills of the chairperson

• Promotes excellence in areas of teaching, research, administration and the provision of support services
