Overview: The theme will be 'The Role of the Head of Department at UCL'. The first part of the programme is primarily an induction course, in which senior colleagues will join you in exploring aspects of your role, and looking at some of the issues currently facing us. Part 2 offers opportunities to discuss issues of leadership, and the management of change.
Anticipated learning outcomes:
By the end of this session, you will:
Build on your understanding of leadership and change in an individual, departmental and UCL wide context
Develop new strategies to work effectively with creative individuals and teams
Be able to identify the key components of human resource management within UCL and the broader legal framework
Gain an overview of UCL's financial management and budgetary control processes
Be able to identify appropriate opportunities to apply the above in your departmental leadership role

Maintains an awareness of the wider context (UCL wide, national and international as appropriate) and responds accordingly
