Organisational Development

A Message from the President and Provost

Professor Malcolm Grant UCL Provost and President

UCL is one of the world’s leading universities. Sustaining our academic excellence depends on attracting, retaining and developing academic staff of international repute and providing a support infrastructure that underpins the highest quality of teaching and research.

Organisational Development has a distinctive approach to its task of supporting staff at UCL. The team is not a traditional training unit. Instead it works in partnership with academic departments and corporate divisions to support colleagues in developing new skills to allow them to flourish within the UCL environment, and in line with UCL aspirations regarding, professional development, leadership and management and providing research staff with skills and career development.

UCL is committed to the continuing professional development (CPD) of all staff. We have a clear expectation: all staff are entitled and expected to undertake at least three learning events per annum. For staff with management responsibilities this should include at least one leadership or management development activity. We will provide all support and training to ensure that management responsibilities are discharged proportionately across UCL, and that all staff are well supported in their work here.

UCL President
and Provost
