Welcome to Organisation & Staff Development - HR Division

The Organisation and Staff Development team are here to assist you and your department in planning and arranging development programmes that support improved individual, team and organisational effectiveness.

All UCL staff are expected to complete 3 learning events per year. The OSD programme is continually updated by the addition of new workshops and dates. The Course Calendar is regularly updated to reflect this.

new 29th April - Assertiveness (Researchers) - This course is suitable for all staff who want to develop their understanding of assertiveness at work in order to improve or maintain their levels of performance. The session focuses on types of behaviour and uses techniques to explore how we can stand up for our personal rights and express thoughts in direct, honest and appropriate ways that do not violate another person's rights. ...more

3rd June Understanding and Embracing Change for non-Managers - This course is for staff with no management or supervisory responsibility, who may be currently experiencing change in their working life, or who are likely to experience change in the future. The session looks at how change affects daily life at UCL. Often we have no control over changes but we are expected to rapidly digest them and in many cases help to implement them. Through self-reflection and a range of practical activities we will explore your role in the change process and identify how you can make change a positive experience. 5th June - Power and Influence - This course is for you if you are grade 8-10 with significant leadership or management responsibility. The session will explore personal power and circles of influence and control and how to use these to negotiate effectively at both strategic and operational levels. Participants will also be invited to critique issues of power and influence within the higher education context. ...more
