Celebrating Dr. Deborah Gill (Interim Director, UCL Medical School)
On Friday 11th July 2014, the joint winners of the prestigious Women in the City Future Leaders Award 2014 were announced as: Naomi Bowman, Senior Manager – Governance & Operations – Group Monitor Liaison Office, HSBC Holdings PLC and Dr Deborah Gill, Interim Director, UCL Medical School, University College London.
The national Future Leaders Award, sponsored by the ICAEW, Google, HSBC and Penna, shines a spotlight on exceptional women and leadership talent. This year's winners were selected from a shortlist of ten outstanding candidates, with the results announced at the 5th Future Leaders Award Ceremony at Carpenters' Hall, in the City of London.
Presenting the trophy and prize to the winners was Sheriff-Elect, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley. On winning the Award Naomi Bowman, Senior Manager – Governance & Operations – Group Monitor Liaison Office, HSBC Holdings PLC said: "I am delighted to be named as the 2014 Future Leaders Award winner. I am extremely grateful to my colleagues - past and present for their recognition and support. I am incredibly proud to be able to represent both my employer – HSBC and my professional body – ICAEW, two global institutions who are pro-actively promoting women in leadership."
Joint winner Dr Deborah Gill, Interim Director, UCL Medical School, University College London, also commented; "It is an incredible honour to be chosen as the winner of this illustrious award; especially to be selected from such a high calibre field of really excellent and dynamic finalists. Women in universities, especially those who are working at the cutting edge of the changing role of the university, need more recognition of their achievements. This recognition provides that vital support and encouragement."
