What is Stellar HE?
Stellar HE is an exciting executive development programme for Diverse (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic – BAME) staff aspiring to leadership positions in Higher Education (HE). It is research based, building on 21st century leadership models and thinking to further leverage the effectiveness of Diverse Leaders in middle to senior management positions across Higher Education.
The programme places diversity as a distinctive strength at the core of authentic leadership development using Factor 8, the cutting edge leadership framework for ‘Diverse Leaders’. It addresses the distinctive but often subtle challenges and variations to the unwritten rules and models for success that BAME leaders face and must master as visible minorities operating in a majority HE context.

UCL's Equality and Diversity and Organisational Development teams are sponsoring a total of four places on this programme. To apply you will need to satisfy the following criteria:
- You will be from a BAME group
- You will need to grade 8 and / or above
- Have the support of your line manager(s)
If you wish to be considered for one of the sponsored places, please submit your expression of interest in the form of a one page document to firstname.lastname@example.org (Charlotte Croffie, Director of Organisational Development - Stellar HE Lead for UCL) responding to the following points:
- Why I want to participant in the Stellar HE programme
- Which elements of the programme I believe I would benefit most from and why
- How I would seek to use the learning in practice
- How UCL will benefit from sponsoring me to attend this programme
Those who meet the criteria will have their completed applications assessed by a panel from UCL and Diversity Practice. Four people will be selected and sponsored to attend the programme.
Please note there is a residential element to this programme. Therefore, it is important to get your managers approval.
